Shepton Mallet

Nestling in a fold of the beautiful Mendip Hills escarpment in eastern Somerset, Shepton Mallet is an attractive combination of an ancient market town and a modern industrial community. Strategically located within easy reach of major tourist attractions such as Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury Abbey and Cheddar Gorge and caves, Shepton Mallet itself has many historic sites and associations for the visitor to explore.

Castle Cary

Castle Cary is a small attractive market town situated some 12 miles North East of Yeovil and 24 miles South of Bath. It lies on the edge of rolling countryside between the Somerset Levels to the West and the high ridgeline of Penselwood to the East and halfway between the Mendip Hills and the Blackmore Vale.

The Eden Project is a large-scale environmental complex in Cornwall, UK. The project is located in a reclaimed china clay pit, located 1.25 miles (2 km) from the town of St Blazey and 3 miles (5 km) from the larger town of St Austell.

Glastonbury

A place steeped in history, myth and legend and is only 15 minutes away. There is an excellent Somerset Rural Museum there (free entry) as well as the famous Glastonbury TOR - if you enjoy a short challenging walk then it is a must with superb views over rural Somerset. The Glastonbury Rock/folk festival, now held every two years, takes place at Pilton village between Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet.

Travel by Rail

Castle Cary is 3 miles away and is a mainline railway station to Waterloo, London and West to the coast at St Ives. There is a regular bus service passing through the village to Shepton Mallet where there is a large Tesco Superstore and other shopping facilities.
