Bath

The Roman City of Bath is approximately a 40 minute drive. The beautiful coastal resorts of Lyme Regis and Burton Bradstock on the South Coast are within an hours drive away as are Weston Super Mare and Burnham on Sea to the West on Bridgewater Bay which forms part of the Mouth of the Severn Estuary.

The Cheddar Gorge

Cheddar Gorge is a limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar in Somerset, England. The gorge is the site of the Cheddar show caves, where Britain's oldest complete human skeleton, Cheddar Man, estimated to be 9,000 years old, was found in 1903. The caves, produced by the activity of an underground river, contain stalactites and stalagmites.

The Wookey Hole Caves

Wookey Hole Caves is a show cave and tourist attraction in the village of Wookey Hole on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills near Wells in Somerset, England. The cave is noted for the Witch of Wookey Hole – a roughly human shaped rock outcrop, reputedly turned to stone by a monk from Glastonbury. It is also the site of the first cave dives in Britain.

Stourhead House and Gardens

A short stroll from Stourhead House, lying in secluded privacy in the adjacent valley, is one of the finest landscape gardens in the world, quite often referred to as 'Paradise'.

Longleat Safari Park

Longleat is an English country house, currently the seat of the Marquesses of Bath, adjacent to the village of Horningsham and near the towns of Warminster in Wiltshire and Frome in Somerset, UK. It is noted for its Elizabethan country house, maze, landscaped parkland and safari park.(30 mins. away)

Closer still are Royal Bath and West Showground (3mins.) and The East Somerset Railway Centre for rail enthusiasts (10mins.).

The New Forest, Cotswolds and Stonehenge

Slightly further afield, but a pleasant drive, will take you to The New Forest in Hampshire (70mins.) to the South East, or to The Cotswolds (60mins.) to the North East. Stonehenge and Amesbury are due East on the A303 approximately a 50 minute drive.

National Trust

There are many National Trust Buildings, Gardens and Countryside walks within a 50 minute drive of the cottage as well as local public footpath walks in the countryside. Further information on the National Trust can be found on their website
